Read the device's light/dark setting, or change it. These call app_appearance.

appearance​

public String appearance()
public String appearance(String mode)

The device's light/dark setting.

@return "light" or "dark"

Changes the light/dark setting and returns the new one. "light", "dark", or "auto" on Android only. Discards the refs from the last map.

@param mode "light", "dark", or "auto" on Android @return the setting now in force

Switch to dark mode​

String mode = device.appearance("dark");   // "dark", read back
